Blink of an eye and we have stepped into the first day of 2025? Hope everyone had a memorable winter break and wishing all, a great start to January, 2025. Remember ‘this’ is the most fantastic time of the year-New year resolutions, diet fads, gym memberships… …As a teen here’s a new way to think about things: Forget about (new) resolutions, embrace what makes you unique, and work on being the best version of yourself this year. Growth doesn’t have to start on January 1st—it’s something that happens all the time. Skip the goal-setting and start making small changes right now. To all my friends here’s to a year of true growth, without the resolutions!

  Coral reefs are the largest living structures on our planet

💥 Divers have uncovered the ocean's largest coral, a discovery that Enric Sala, founder of the National Geographic team, described as akin to finding "the world's tallest tree" after believing there was nothing left to discover on Earth. The massive coral reef, found near the Solomon Islands, is longer than a blue whale and wide enough to fit two basketball courts. Remarkably, it has remained undetected for 300 to 500 years. This rare discovery offers a hopeful glimmer in the world of marine exploration.  

👉️ Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation, has launched a state-of-the-art cord blood banking service. This is the country’s first local cord blood storage facility and will offer families a unique opportunity to preserve their newborns’ stem cells in Qatar, for potential future medical needs.Cord blood banking is the process of collecting and storing the blood from a newborn’s umbilical cord and placenta after birth. The collection is painless, non-invasive, and risk-free for the mother and baby. Cord blood is rich in hematopoietic stem cells, which have the potential to treat various medical conditions, including certain cancers, blood disorders, and immune system diseases.

👉️ A new study reveals that memory storage might extend beyond the brain, with cells throughout the body also capable of retaining information. Researchers from Harvard Medical School and MIT have found that immune cells, muscle cells, and even skin cells can store information about past experiences, especially in response to injuries or infections. This cellular memory helps the body respond more quickly and effectively if a similar event happens again, indicating that memory isn’t exclusive to the neurons in our brains.

👉️ Portable X-rays are essential for giving medical teams vital diagnostic tools in difficult or remote settings.The requirement for workflow enhancement during the pandemic era gave rise to KnovelCam. Their goal was to improve hospital workflow by making x-ray availability more flexible. 💪 IIT’s Leg Prosthetic technologies took the podium at Cybathlon 2024. A special bionic knee and ankle system created by the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia recently won a top prize at Cybathlon, a competition that shows off technology designed for people with movement disabilities. Called #Omnia, the system has motorized knee and ankle parts that help users walk on different surfaces and handle various situations. The Omnia system stands out for its communication between two prosthetic components, Unico and Armonico, which share sensor data to optimize performance. The Unico knee combines hydraulic and electric technologies: the hydraulic system ensures smooth, energy-efficient walking and descending, while the electric system aids in tasks like climbing stairs or standing up. The system automatically switches between hydraulic and electric modes, thanks to advanced algorithms that coordinate the two  components 👏
