Influencer: noun(2026): A ((human) who influences... mostly the algorithm!!

Let’s be honest — not many students are going to pick up Zero to One by Peter Thiel (That’s okay. I didn’t read it either — thank you, audiobooks.) One idea from the book stayed with me. It talks about two kinds of progress:

1 → n: Doing more of what already exists — better grades, more certificates, another internship.
0 → 1: Creating something new — an idea, a project, something that didn’t exist before.

Most students spend years in 1 → n, and it’s easy to feel stuck while watching a few others seem to jump straight to big wins.

As an educator (& a mom), this is where CampusTalk comes in. Every program, student story, free internship, or volunteering opportunity I share has one simple goal:that every student finds a direction, a spark — or even just a starting point.

Happy to be on your screen.
And honestly… smart of you to not (un)subscribe. You never know which opportunity might knock on your virtual door next.

Maybe you missed this — but this is seriously cool. A mix of engineering, design, & climate innovation — This is what good news looks like:
materials science + smart manufacturing + sustainability

❌ dyes — the pastel colors come from the original cups.
❌water used in manufacturing.
❌ cut-and-sew waste thanks to 3D knitting.
And the fabric uses continuous filaments, which means less microplastic shedding.

Summer 2026 & beyond

Pre Collegiate Programs

A classroom reality every teacher knows: one ‘textbook’ size does not fit all. Stanford’s Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes is now open for Summer 2026 — and if you’re curious, ambitious, or just want to explore your interests early, this could be a game-changer.

Why it can matter
This isn’t just a summer class — it’s:

  • A preview of college life

  • A chance to network with high-achieving peers

  • A way to show initiative, curiosity & depth on future applications.

Are you the kind of student who likes to go beyond the classroom —plan your summer! And watch this space for my next edition — summer events for students happening around the world.

(Mom’s Napkin Math): It’s 2026, the earlier you find your interests-the better your academic record will be.

Spotlight ⚡️

Starting a new CampusTalk feature highlighting smart, thoughtful ideas shared by students in school & university on social media & other platforms — especially ideas around AI, technology, innovation & solutions for the larger student community. Students are constantly building, thinking, & experimenting out loud online. But with the sheer volume of content, powerful ideas often get lost in translation. The plan is to review a wide range of sources every day, so you don’t have to. If your idea appears here, it’s shared with care, respect, & credit wherever possible.

(And of course, if you are uncomfortable with your content being showcased, just write to me & will take it down immediately. No questions asked!)

  • Andy Hou

Some students say they are interested in business or law, Andy is already in the arena building towards it:

    High school student
Founder at The American Executive Report
    Civic leadership fellow
    Policy writer

As a high schooler, he’s already making an impact: analyzing the proposed TEENS Act, publishing a research article on public healthcare policy, and completing the eight-week Civic Innovators Fellowship, which trains students in leadership & hands-on policy work.” He proves a point :

‘Start where you are. Ask questions. Dig deep. Create platforms.’

  • Ei Kay Vaishnavi Kayo Latasha & Aaliyah

This week, a group of high school students reached out to me — and I am so glad they did. What they are building reflects something I am seeing more of: Gen Alpha energy — informed, collaborative, digital-first, & purpose-driven. Senior school students — driven, thoughtful, & quietly ambitious — are launching ProjectMedic, an initiative focused on making medical knowledge & educational opportunities more accessible to young people. This initiative is led by an extremely focused & young team of 5 high school students connecting with a clear long-term vision. They hope to create:

  • Workshops

  • Webinars

  • A mentorship program

  • Educational pathways connecting underprivileged youth to medical resources

Their goal is to increase awareness about medical conditions while opening doors for students around the world who may not otherwise have guidance or exposure to the medical field.

Just like when I have had the chance to spotlight students like Amrit, Siddharth & Arthur, in my last edition this is about students stepping up early. CampusTalk will always promote student ideas & initiatives — free & wholeheartedly.

(Mom’s Napkin Math): As high school students, connecting with peers around you is always a win-win — sometimes the most meaningful opportunities start with a simple hello.

The Shout-Out 🔈️ Section

Since this newsletter is a free platform for students it feels right to shine the spotlight to other free, student-led & or other purpose-driven initiatives out there. From charities & volunteer groups to campus clubs and community initiatives—these are the people quietly doing the work, creating impact, and making things better without asking for much in return.

If you are a student group, nonprofit, or volunteer initiative creating positive change, this space is for you too. Sometimes all it takes is visibility for a good idea to grow.
