The (AI)pril Fools Loop

Internship Alerts I Education News I Student Community 6K+ & growing

First, we handed our kids devices.
Then we moved them onto digital platforms.
Now, we are creating AI that can do almost everything.

Bright screens. Endless scroll. Instant dopamine. They got hooked.
(So did we, if we are being honest) & the real feature?
Silence. Reduced conversation. Reduced eye contact.
Adoption, however, soared ! Suddenly: “Wait… why is everyone anxious?” So we shipped the update:
🧠 mental health apps,
🧘 wellness subscriptions

New category unlocked. Subscriptions, reminders, breathing exercises — the full stack.

Plot twist. New rule in town:
🚫 “Kids under 16 shouldn’t be on these platforms.” The quiet disappears. Silent Chaos. System crash. 😆

Welcome to The Perfect (AI)pril Fool’s Loop. If the market doesn’t exist…just build both sides of it. Let’s remember, we have navigated disruption before, we will find it again. Perhaps, it’s not about shutting it all down—but learning how to use it better.

I am an avid education researcher (& yes, a mom) — this is my small way of adding to your journey. With universities, visas, & rules constantly changing, planning ahead isn’t always easy. Plus with everything moving so fast online, it can feel like the next big opportunity might pass you by. Happy to be on your screen 😃 A quick note: dear students, thank you for your messages. I will try my best to share opportunities in non AI related fields specially finance, psychology & economics to name a few. Finding virtual opportunities across countries to help you move through the academic grind.

Dear MedTech Students,

The benefits of choosing Biomedical Engineering

Source-Jett Van Der Wallen Linkdn

One interesting shift in biomedical engineering is that students are no longer waiting until graduation to work on healthcare innovation. In my previous issue featuring @IvanaMa founder of @TheHEARTVenture, I understood that students who love research are quite a large number. Sharing this visual that captures this evolving BioMedical Engineering ecosystem- (mapped by Jett van Der Wallen), who very graphically shares how biomedical engineering connects to multiple fields beyond the traditional lab or hospital pathways.

University projects are increasingly turning into early-stage health startups — where students choosing Biomedical as an Undergrad program contribute to sensor design, clinical data analysis, & AI-driven diagnostics. Here’s the bridge 👇

Idea → Prototype → Accelerator → Startup

Now,if you are a student with a health or med tech idea, UNSW’s Health10x Accelerator is a legit launchpad= where it gets real 🚀

Concepts turn into startups→ pitch to investors → industry mentorship.

(Mom’s Napkin Math): Biomedical engineers are the translators between medicine & technology.Want help pitching your idea or preparing your startup story? Hit me up — pointers, templates, or a practice run. Happy to make your idea pop!

Dear Readers,

The Sprint To Space

Events Down Under

Take a closer look at Australia’s first Moon rover program- opening its doors, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what it really takes to build for space.

Missed this event? Keep an eye out—there will be more. But here’s something you can focus on right now 👇

🌛The crew of Artemis II is set to redefine what a deep-space exploring looks like. Fact check : Space isn’t just about astronauts being brave. It’s a reminder that  progress happens when we choose to go further—again.

🌛 Have you ever imagined what it would feel like to step inside the International Space Station? Google lets you explore it from the inside. It’s pretty cool!!

Campus 🎯 Shots

This space will highlight smart ideas shared by students in school & university on social media & other platforms — especially ideas, innovation & solutions for the larger student community. Everyone’s building. Everyone’s posting. But the best ideas? Easy to miss. I scroll, filter, & surface what actually matters—so you don’t have to.

Not every student needs to start from scratch.
Sometimes the smartest move is learning from someone just a few steps ahead.

I have been quietly following certain students for sometime now — not because of a flashy launch or a viral moment, but because of something rarer: consistency with purpose. Gratitude to all the students who agreed to be featured on CampusTalk. Dear student, If your idea appears here, it’s shared with care, respect, & credit wherever needed.

3,500 applications for just ‘One role’. That’s where this story starts, A student looked at how hiring works… and something didn’t sit right. Write “project management’ & you pass, show real impact… sometimes you get missed?

That didn’t make sense. He saw the gap — His sister was hiring for a single role—& received 3,500 applications. She knew exactly what she was looking for.But screening that volume manually? It would’ve taken months. Months she didn’t have, & months the best candidates weren’t going to wait.

That’s when it clicked. The problem isn’t talent. It’s time. What started as a summer project for Soham turned into sharpscreen.ai — an AI-native platform that reads for context, not keywords. It evaluates what candidates actually accomplished, not just what buzzwords they listed. Over 100,000+ resumes screened with 99.6% accuracy.

❌ Keyword matching ✅ Context evaluation

From my HR days, this stands out: it’s layered, it’s intentional. He is still a student—yet building something genuinely solid. Fixing the gap through learning, curiosity, and intent. His launch is live. It’s out there. Built by a student who is not waiting—but figuring it out in real time.

(Mom’s Napkin Math):This isn’t a brand-new category—but it is a better execution of a broken one. Give it a chance.Explore it. Share it. Support it.

A student at International Academy East — & not waiting for college to start building. Founders like her are starting earlier than ever.(Yes, she’s still in school.)

She’s not picking one lane ✔️ Tech ✔️ Finance ✔️ Media & Content ✔️ Social Impact. ✔️ Consumer & lifestyle Education ✔️ Healthcare. LikeMinded brings GenZ builders into small teams (4–6), matched by what they want to create.

New cohort every month. Same drive. Different skills. One team.

Wait, that’s not all. She’s also building Clyra Advisory — a student-run financial consulting startup helping struggling small businesses turn things around.

38% of small businesses fail due to financial challenges. That’s not just a number — it’s an opportunity.

And she’s not stopping there — she’s actively exploring finance programs, constantly pushing herself to learn & stay in motion. At this stage of student life, that kind of clarity + curiosity + consistency is rare & honestly, pretty inspiring. Are you a student/startup/stuck with an idea? This is your kind of room, If you are 👇️

  • building in AI / SaaS / finance / creator economy

  • looking for co-founders, early teams, collaborators

  • done with ideas, focused on execution + accountability

(Mom’s Napkin Math):Not everyone needs another idea. Some just need the right people. Definitely one to watch — strong feeling about where she’s headed.

The Shout-Out 🔈️ Section

Since this newsletter is a free platform for students it feels right to shine the spotlight to other free, student-led & or other purpose-driven initiatives out there. From charities & volunteer groups to campus clubs and community initiatives—these are the people quietly doing the work, creating impact, and making things better without asking for much in return.

If you’re a student group, nonprofit, or volunteer initiative creating positive change, this space is for you too. Sometimes all it takes is visibility for a good idea to grow.

Students building for other students & society.

MediSec is a student-led initiative, focused on something most people don’t think about until it’s too late:
cybersecurity in healthcare.

From protecting patient data to educating communities about digital safety, MediSec is working at the intersection of health, technology, & awareness—a space that’s only becoming more critical.

Why this matters (today more than ever) Healthcare + Data = High Stakes.

Yet awareness around: patient data/ privacy digital safety/cybersecurity in hospitals…is still limited. Bridging that gap—early, & at scale.

What they have already achieved (Not just a concept already in action)
  • Reached 100+ community members through nonprofit fairs

  • Conducted sessions for 150+ school students

  • Created & distributed cybersecurity awareness booklets to hospitals

  • Published 15–20 research projects on real-world topics

  • Built a growing community of 70+ student contributors

This amazing team is now looking for:

  • Sponsorship (even small contributions help)

  • Printing & educational materials

  • Partnerships with schools, hospitals, & communities

  • Help in amplifying their work

(Mom’s Napkin Math): A quick request

Take a moment to explore their blog posts—the research is thoughtful, well-structured, & genuinely impressive for a student-led initiative. Well written-Well researched. Cybersecurity, especially in healthcare, deserves far more attention—& it’s great to see students stepping into this space early.

Student-led healthcare cybersecurity is still an emerging space—and that’s exactly why initiatives like MediSec stand out.

Thank you for not(un)subscribing.
